A major contract for the upgrade of the Petrojarl Knarr floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit has been awarded by Altera Infrastructure to Aker Solutions. The vessel is supposed to be deployed at the Rosebank oil and gas field in the UK.
The works will be carried out at Drydocks World’s yard in Dubai. The company has formed a join venture (JV) specifically for the contract with Aker. The upgrade’s design will be developed in Norway in a partnership with Citec, ABB, and OneSubsea Processing.
After the completion of the contract, expected in late 2025, Petrojarl Knarr will be able to work for another 25 years without drydocking.
